We booked a table for two at Topo's for the Friday evening. It's a busy place and booking is essential at popular times. We arrived 15 minutes early but they have a small upstairs bar in which to wait. Our order was taken while we waited for the table and so the starters arrived a short time after being seated. Starters were priced at around £4 and very nice. Main courses range from the 'expected' pasta dishes and pizzas at about £7 to various steaks at £12. Chips are not included but when I realised, they brought a bowl of very nice chips over within minutes of asking. Side salads were included in our choices and better than average. I’m told they tasted nice too, but I’m not a salad fan. They have a selection of wines to choose from, but we could see no discernable difference in the caskets and the bottles of the same wines apart from price (£12 vs. £16). Desserts were quite fantastic, mine was a lemon sorbet presented in a hollowed frozen lemon. These cost about £6. The whole evening was nice with the very friendly staff, always helpful and quick to respond. That evening they had two large groups of other people so the place was busy but we never felt ignored. We spent a couple of hours enjoying the experience and were never rushed or left waiting outside of our own pace. We did go the full-out try every course and sample all options night and ran up a bill of £76 between the two of us, certainly more than a typical night for us. That was two starters, two steak meals, chips, two desserts and two or three bottles/caskets of wine. It's also possible to have a regular meal for £12 a head and they open lunch times when you'll find it's not necessary to book. I'm sure we'll be eating there again to try the pizzas on the menu. There's nothing possible to criticise and I'd highly recommend them.
